AFE performs at the National Arts Club on October 6th Although we have been out of touch for so long, there is nothing but great news here at the NYC home offices of the ArtFusion Experiment. Recently, the National Arts Club, one of the most reputable of the New York art societies, invited ArtFusion to present a demonstration of the collaborative art form at the historic, Tilden Mansion, located in New York's famous Gramercy Park. The National Arts Club is dedicated to furthering art and artists in America. They accomplish this by fostering educational programs and awards, while creating opportunities for artists to connect. Since the NAC was founded in 1893, its membership has included three presidents, and some of the most important artists and arts patrons in America. This is a monumental event for The ArtFusion Experiment as it represents a major step in the recognition of Tattoo artists as Fine Artists in such prestigious art circles. We realize this is short notice but Paul, Filip and Guy wanted to let the ArtFusion family know that this event is DEFINITELY taking place on the 6th of October, 2004, and all of you are invited. On this historic day the creators of The ArtFusion Experiment, Paul Booth (USA), Filip Leu (Switzerland) and Guy Aitchison (USA) will perform a collaborative art demonstration for the first time ever in a formal gallery setting in the United States. The NAC has invited us to not only perform an ArtFusion demonstration on the night of October 6th, but to also exhibit some select pieces of Fine Art created by past participants of The ArtFusion Experiment. The art will remain on display through the end of October. Finally, the community of Tattoo Artists who have united to create this global art movement are being credited and represented by such an esteemed institution. Both the NAC and AFE are organizing a great deal of press and media coverage for this momentous event. Opening night will consist of a collaborative art demonstration as well as a collaborative tattoo. This night only will be open to the public as the NAC is normally a private membership art club. They maintain a strict dress code and formal attire is required. The National Arts Club is located at: Event Time: Visit the NAC Site
The ArtFusion Experiment documentary is finally in the making. The Nation Arts Club exhibit will be the final bit of film we need to begin post-production. Footage from all US and European events will be included. In fact, if you have any footage from past AFE events you have attended and would like to donate for possible use in the film, please contact us. You will be credited as a contributor. There have been many AFE offspring events around the world such as Japan, South America, Mexico, and throughout Europe, they may have not been official but they absolutely share our vision. We would like to include footage from as many of these events as possible, so if you can help us in that area we would greatly appreciate it. The next AFE World ArtFusion Camp is being planned! We are in the beginning stages of organizing the next World ArtFusion Camp. We are unable to commit to a time and place as of yet, however we can say it will be in the US on the east coast. More than likely, we are happy to say, New York City is a strong possibility. As this art movement has gone global, its fairly safe to assume a large space is required and thats a rare thing in NYC. As usual, Paul has some fairly interesting ideas however if you have any suggestions or connections to facilitate this production, our ears are always perked. We will keep you updated via this newsletter and well send out an invitation once the time comes. As always, This is a Tattoo Artists Only event however we are considering specific times the public can enter and view this fascinating collaborative process in action. Hunting for Charities We are currently hunting charities for AFE contributions. Once the time comes to auction the 350+ pieces of art that AFE has compiled, it will be very important that the charities are in place. Remember, AFE is not interested in profit. We prefer to focus our energy on charities that are geared towards art programs for children. So if you are aware of any that are reputable, please let us know. We always appreciate your input. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
